Describe your classroom experience with teaching your subject.
I have taught AP HuG for 4 years and I am having so much fun with the class. I teach Earth Science as well, and have a MA in History. Human Geography is the perfect combination of science and history, I am fascinated how the class explains and examines the world we live and our connections to other countries.
What is your experience with remote learning and online classes?
I have primarily taught my class online, or through a flipped model for almost 5 years. I am also the tech administrator at my school and am apple certified. You could say I love technology almost as much as I love geography!
What advice do you have for homeschool and self study students?
Organize your questions for when you have class or office hours. You will run into confusing topics or things you need clarification on. But its sometimes hard to remember when you talk to your teacher and sometimes you get so overwhelmed you'll find yourself saying " I just don't get it". If you organize your questions, you'll actually get clarification and specific answers that will help you move forward and succeed!
For students who haven't decided whether taking this course online is worth it, what would you say to them?
Human geography explains the "why" of so many of the issues and problems surrounding our world. This class will help you see how interconnected the world is. Through engaging and dynamic sessions, I will help you expand and analyze those connections!
How hard will this class be and what can students expect from the workload?
This class is challenging but manageable, if you stay on top of the content. Do your best to prepare before the live sessions so you can get the most out of it. You will be assigned practice FRQ's and assignments to help you develop your skills and feel prepared for the test.
